Close Encounter: Fade Away

Off their easy to categorize but quite complex to describe debut EP, Seattle's psychedelic rock/dreampop four-piece, Close Encounter have released another single, an enchanting five-minute kaleidoscope of pale colours, heavy reverberation and enticing haziness.

Close Encounter came into existence in 2016. They self-produced and self-released their first EP, First Light which came out just a couple of weeks ago. Despite the beauty of it, given the little time that the band has been together, on both technical and stylistic levels, the EP stands as a huge achievement, as it accurately reflects the band's confidence and dexterity, giving the feeling and idea of an already matured and experienced band.

As delicate as it may sound, Fade Away brings together shoegaze, dreampop and psychedelia with clarity and certainty, and it romances with wistfulness and nostalgia like it's the easiest thing in the world to do.

Listen below, and revisit Destroying Existence Vol.7 for Close Encounter's previous single and the EP's opening track.
