It's been more than a couple of years ago since North Carolina's Center Of The Sun released their excellent album, Machine Gun, but only a little after that, that excellent shoegaze act called it quits.
MTHR is comprised of Ally Hoffman of Center Of The Sun and Rick Contes, also of Center Of The Sun and Young And In The Way and they're about to release their debut 7-inch on Atrum Cultus.
More stripped down than Center Of The Sun, but by some means heavier and much gloomier, MTHR (or "Mother" minus the vowels) maintain the balance between heaviness and fragility and their first ever release is definitely one of the highlights of the year so far.
