Modern Stars: Monkey Blues

Modern Stars have unveiled a new video for Monkey Blues in advance of the release of their third studio album Space Trips For The Masses, which will be published on November 11th, 2022 by Little Cloud Records.

Monkey Blues, which is a key section in the concept album's narration, finds the main character still at the early part of a space odyssey, beginning to lose grasp of reality.

The video is inspired by Terry Gilliam's 1995 film 12 Monkeys, which is partly based on Chris Marker's 1962 French experimental short film La Jetée. The movie examines the subjective character of memories and their influence on reality perception. Several times in the film, the protagonists are found to have altered or false memories.

Modern Stars are preparing to release an ambitious creative endeavor with many layers of depth and intrigue, combining properties from shoegaze, krautrock, electronica, and more experimental styles. As they put it: "We want our records to sound like a journey, not just a collage of songs."
