Dot Allison and synthpop veterans Saint Etienne have connections going all the way back to their Heavenly years, as well as mutual ties to iconic producer, the late Andrew Weatherall. Saint Etienne's unique and quirky version on Allison's One Love is included in The Entangled Remix EP, released on May 27th, 2022.
"I had loved Saint Etienne since my early days as an artist," Dot remarks, "and can recall clearly the first time I heard and immediately adored their version of Only Love Can Break Your Heart."
Saint Etienne return the love: "One Love is such a beautiful, fragile song. The only place we thought it could go was more ethereal, as if it was in the air, like seeds from a dandelion clock getting tangled up with passing radio waves."
On the name for the fresh new EP of remixes, Dot says: “I titled this The Entangled Remix EP to tie in with Heart-Shaped Scars, but also in a way to show the slightly disparate influences on the EP spanning decades from when I was first influenced by dub music and did a remix for St. Etienne, to working with Anton in Berlin, and now to the Anchoress."
