salo: crucifix

Coming from Portland, OR, salo is the new anarchist synthpunk act by multi-instrumentalist and former Ritual Veil synthesist, Tim Iserman. The new project emerged in late 2019 with a demo EP, followed recently by the six song release, mercy.

In all its existential disquiet, standout track, crucifix, doesn't stand very far from the murky post punk and darkly stylish new wave of Ritual Veil, still, it leans toward a grittier sound and takes a more haunting form than Iserman's previous act. The artist who records, produces and performs everything on the new EP, also delivers a pretty affecting vocal performance which bursts with both wistfulness and unease, and comes together with a very creative method of instrumentation, and strong aesthetics.
