Danny Elfman: Happy

A solo piece of work is a rare occasion for the otherwise incredibly prolific Danny Elfman, who has just revealed his first non-film, non-classical and non-Oingo Boingo related piece in a very long while.

Happy was originally written to commemorate the artist's appearance at this year's Coachella which never took place. It is now released through ANTI- alongside a pretty spooky clip directed by Aaron Johnson.

"It was written to be an absurd anti-pop song, designed to begin as a very simple pop tune that degrades into something more subversive," the great composer explains. "The cynical nature of the lyrics echo how I feel about living in a semi-dystopian world turned upside down."
