After Love Is a Devil and Blue Smoke, the third single off the very strong new full length by post punk/gothic rock act, Fotocrime, is the driving rocker, Expulsion from Paradise, a track which further illustrates the album's potency, and matches its black and white aesthetics.
This time around the song features a full band alongside electronic elements, and a prominent lineup composed of Hayden Menzies (Metz) on drums, Nick Thieneman (Young Widows) on bass, and Erick Denno (Kerosene 454) on guitars, together with Fotocrime frontman and vocalist, R.
“It’s been a journey of persistence and obsession, more character actor than leading man,” R. states. “South of Heaven is deeply personal, an honest fiction, an exposed nerve pulsing in a blanket of fog.”
The instrumentals were recorded at Electrical Audio with Steve Albini, while the vocals were recorded and mixed with J. Robbins at the Magpie Cage. Expulsion from Paradise comes with a bleak video directed by Jakub Moth.
South of Heaven will be out through Profound Lore on March 13th, 2020.
