Redd Kross: Beyond the Door

Drawing inspiration and borrowing its title from the brilliant Italian horror b-flick, Chi Sei? aka The Devil Within Her, aka Beyond the Door, aka one of the most amusing Exorcist rip-offs ever made, the new album by veteran punks, Redd Kross, releases August 23rd, 2019 through Merge Records, and its announcement comes alongside the news for a massive fall tour with The Melvins.

The new album features longtime members of the Redd Kross live band, guitarist Jason Shapiro and drummer Dale Crover (Melvins, OFF!) as part of the recording act alongside the McDonald brothers. "Jeff is still very much the driving force behind the compositions, but with more help from me than ever," says Steven McDonald about the collaborative songwriting with his brother. "Jeff and I haven’t shared this much of the writing and singing since Born Innocent in 1981." The album also includes notable guest appearances from Anna Waronker (That Dog), Geré Fennelly, Buzz Osborne (Melvins), and Josh Klinghoffer.

Bringing together the traditional rock 'n' roll directness and power pop tunefulness which are undoubtedly the bigger strengths of Redd Kross' sound, the upcoming LP's title track comes bright, impressive, and like a fine addition to an already stellar career.

Beyond the Door was mixed in Los Angeles by Steven McDonald. Find the dated for Redd Kross' extensive tour with The Melvins right below.
