Unwed Sailor: Ovid

Once a member of Pedro The Lion and math rockers, Roadside Monument, Johnathon Ford writes and records music under the moniker Unwed Sailor. Since the early 2000s the project has taken a few different directions and followed diverse stylistic paths that vary from melodic post rock to ambiance and drone, to something more unconventional and experimental.

Unwed Sailor released four albums from 2001 to 2008, several EPs and a collaborative soundtrack with Early Day Miners for a short film. Heavy Age will be the project's first full length album since 2008's Little Wars, scheduled to come out May 3rd, 2019.

Consistent, tuneful and characteristic of Unwed Sailor's more familiar, customary post rock sound, Ovid is a four minute instrumental which engages the listener from the first moment and keeps them absorbed to its flow throughout its entirety, suggesting that the ten year wait gives way to one of the strongest works they have come up with yet.
