HEX: Sight Beyond the Lines / Billboard

As much as their sound is not very easy to pigeonhole to a direct and pure genre or style, Wellington, New Zealand-based quartet, HEX, come forth as a band impossible to ignore.

Consisting of wives Kiki and GG Van Newtown, Jason Erskine and Briar Prastiti, and heavily inspired by the occult, punk rock and feminism, the enigmatic band emerge with a strong kick. Their versatility hints on everything punk; post punk, noise rock and riot grrrl punk, while the traditional folk, psychedelic and extreme metal undertones keep always lurking about, ready to reveal themselves on either the most intense or most delicate moments in HEX's well woven sound.

The Hill Temple, the band's impressive debut full length was just released, and it will be followed by a U.S. tour including appearances at SXSW.

After the gorgeous visuals in the video for the album's opening track and leading single, Sight Beyond the Lines, or the grabbing second track, Billboard, HEX will most likely have you convinced that their spirited sound and witchy aesthetics are more than worth the engagement.
