D//E Premiere: Gordon Raphael: 2 Track Mind

Seattle space-rocker Gordon Raphael is the super producer behind works from countless bands and distinguished acts such as Damon Albarn, Ian Brown and Ian Astbury. Most prominently he produced The Strokes' seminal debut album, Is This It? and its follow up, Room On Fire, after he came across the band at a free gig in a New York bar, and also Regina Spektor's 2004 breakthrough album, Soviet Kitsch.

Apart from his talents as a producer, Raphael is foremost a songwriter and performer. "I love producing," he states, "but playing guitar and writing songs is what I’ve always done. I wanted to show what I can do on the other side of the desk all the time, but producing kept getting in the way."

Citing influences from rock icons like David Bowie, Mick Ronson, Kimono My House-era Sparks and Frank Zappa, the multitalented artist will be releasing his debut solo album, Sleep On The Radio on March 30th 2018, off which now comes 2 Track Mind, a punk-infused glam indie rocking number, accompanied by an impressive video whose strong energy and grit provide it with a look and feel that resembles a lot from the late nineties.

"2 Track Mind was recorded in London with my band Black Light," Gordon shares with D//E about the single. "It is a gushing song about my love for the musical work Bowie and Iggy did together. The menacing and druggy aspects speak perfectly to the super-addictive part of my personalty!"
