Örebro duo Folded Marigold descend into sustained darkness on Opalizes Everything, a heavy and menacing track whose gloom refuses to loosen its grip. Sabbath-like riffing emerges from deep within the underground, carrying a psychedelic weight that feels ancient, narcotic nearly hostile.
The detached vocal delivery initially creates distance from the surrounding mass, yet it also intensifies the song’s emotional bleakness. Restraint becomes part of the threat, suggesting something volatile held just beneath the surface while the riffs continue their slow, oppressive movement.
When that control finally breaks and the screams arrive, hell opens. The track may eventually retreat into its psychedelic heaviness, but the eruption cannot be undone; its impact continues to haunt every passage that follows. Folded Marigold understand that extremity is most powerful when given time to linger.
