king hit: post divorce clearance sale

Wellington four-piece king hit emerges with post divorce clearance sale, a forceful collision of shoegaze abrasion, hardcore impact and the introspection of Midwest emo. The track captures the band at their most ferocious, but its dense volume never completely obscures the vulnerability underneath.

Heavily reverberated guitars spread across colossal drums and a relentlessly driving bassline. Within that wall of noise, Stefan Jenkins and Caitlin Gabb provide the unexpected counterweight that is their weightless vocal harmonies risibg through the distortion, with Gabb’s eerily expressive voice adding another dimension to the band’s punishing sound.

The song treats emotional release as something deeply physical, a way of letting tension move through the body instead of holding it in. It’s an invitation to clear out the mental clutter that’s been piling up and finally make space to breathe again.

king hit bring together musicians from across Te Whanganui-a-Tara’s underground, with Jenkins and drummer Sebastian Bell previously playing in Sol Fide, Jenkins also coming from The World Is Against You, and bassist Felix Bird from Park Flyers. As their newest member, second guitarist and co-lead vocalist Gabb completes a lineup capable of making desolation sound immense.
