nazire: leech

24-year-old Istanbul-based artist, nazire, moves between shoegaze, indie rock, glitch pop and experimental electronics, shaping a sound that feels intimate and restless. Her new single, leech, arrives via Istanbul label Ortacag and serves as the final preview of her upcoming album, glitchfolk.

The piece explores the realization that someone trusted has been quietly draining your energy for years. That emotional tension runs throughout the production, which shifts between synthetic detachment and warmer, more human flashes, reflecting the complicated pull of a relationship that remains difficult to leave behind.

Built around noisy guitar textures and a strong emotional undercurrent, leech draws from the realm of contemporary shoegaze while incorporating fractured electronic elements that give the song a more exploratory direction. Guitar parts are constructed from chopped and manipulated recordings rather than traditionally performed riffs, giving the track an unpredictable edge.

Formant-shifted vocals and stylized autotune lend the verses a sense of emotional distance, while the song gradually opens up into a reverb-drenched finale where layered harmonies bring its feelings into sharper focus.

leech is accompanied by an exquisite DIY video that perfectly complements the track's directness and experimental undertones.
