deathcrash: Empty Heavy + Somersaults // Live at Vera / Tapetown

London-based slowcore and post rock outfit deathcrash perform one of their latest singles, Somersaults, alongside Empty Heavy for a stunning session at Vera in Groningen, captured by Tapetown as part of their acclaimed Tapetown Sessions series.

Formed in 2018, the four-piece consists of Noah Bennett (drums), Patrick Fitzgerald (bass), Matthew Weinberger (guitar), and Tiernan Banks (vocals/guitar). Over the years, deathcrash have established themselves as one of the most compelling voices in contemporary slowcore, blending fragile introspection with moments of overwhelming emotional release.

Empty Heavy from 2023 is a quintessential example of the band's strengths. The song unfolds with remarkable patience, gradually building toward a powerful sentimental climax before retreating once again into a state of near-weightless vulnerability. That dynamic interplay between intensity and fragility remains central to deathcrash's appeal, and it is rendered beautifully in the group's live performance.

The session is completed by Somersaults, released earlier in 2026, a track whose sweeping post rock melodicism rises above its alternative rock foundations. Rich in atmosphere and emotional depth, it further highlights the band's gift for producing music that feels delicate and affecting, making this an exceptional showcase of deathcrash's artistry.
