Child of Night: Quiet

Columbus/New York City-based synth duo Child of Night continue to refine their dark-soaked sound on Quiet, the final single leading into their second full length album, Conspiracy. Rather than stepping away from the atmosphere established on earlier material, the band push deeper into it, balancing cold melody with an oppressive sense of unease. Tense and claustrophobic by design, Quiet captures the anxiety of existing beneath systems built on fear, surveillance, and control.

This song is about living in a repressive political state and being pressured to keep quiet," the band comments.

The themes running through Conspiracy reach beyond personal anxiety into broader political territory, touching on “CCTV, the spanning of time, corrupt government,” as Niabi explains. Yet despite the bleakness woven through its subject matter, the album continually allows moments of light to emerge through the darkness.

The record was produced alongside Matia Simovich at Infinite Power Studios in Los Angeles, a collaboration the band describe as immediate and natural.

Matia is an incredible musician and producer, working with him was sincerely cool,” Niabi says. “Working with him felt pretty organic/genuine.

That collaboration extended beyond production work into remixes connected to the release.

After working with Matia on the record, it was sort of a given that we'd have him do a remix, and his remix of ‘Controlled Burn’ was fantastic,” John says. “It was cool to hear him use the Synclavier to sort of transform it into something else, a wild process and a result to match.

The band also enlisted longtime collaborator Profit Prison for a remix of Quiet.

For the Quiet remix, having Profit Prison was a treat,” John adds. “Parker has been a friend for a long time, we've toured together a few times (and hopefully more in the future). We really loved his remix of ‘Dirtworld’ back in 2021 and it was a no brainer to have him do a track off of the new record as well. And it rips, it's the king of dungeon synth-pop at his absolute finest.

Easy to remember, bleak, and deeply immersive, Conspiracy, comprised of songs mostly written between 2018 and 2024, builds on the foundation laid by 2021’s The Walls At Dawn while pushing Child of Night further into darker territory.
