The new album by Demmers, Forced Perspective, is out, and it’s a win on all levels. The record is a strong exercise in post punk, shoegaze, and guitar-driven rock ethereality, easily one of the finest albums of the first half of 2026.
Love Me Again is the kind of opener that sets the stage perfectly for the sentimentality the album leans into later. The band cites inspiration from The Cure’s Plainsong and the more wide-ranging density of Cult of Luna’s Echoes. Both influences are palpable, and handled with vehemence, reverence, and esteem.
The track also highlights a heavier side of the band, with a subtle hardcore propensity, as it gets straight into a weighty sound that grabs the listener by the collar and refuses to be overlooked. It is hardly an overstatement to say that this is a wonderful opener to a fantastic record.
Forced Perspective is a collaborative release between A La Carte Records, Protagonist Music and Summer Darling Tape.
