The sound of Преходъ seems shaped by the atmosphere from which they come than any need for escapism. Formed in Pleven in 2023, the band builds from the textures of Eastern European daily life, and its small, persistent beauty. Their msuic is defintely melancholic and keeps its momentum undamaged.
Working independently, they’ve kept their process close, writing, recording, mixing, and even extending into the visual and physical aspects of their work. There’s consistency in how their music and imagery align, drawing from the stark geometry and presence of Bulgaria’s urban spaces.
Their debut EP Улици unfolds like a series of fragments from the same place, each track tied to the idea of the city as both setting and condition. The title track centers on a relationship that dissolves unevenly, leaving one side to drift into self-destruction. It’s a reflective piece, with a sense of distance that feels earned. Beneath that, the song holds onto something broader, like memory that doesn’t settle, and the difficulty of adjusting to what replaces it.
Преходъ“ (“Prehod”, meaning “Passage”) balance tension and movement. There’s enough weight to ground the songs, but also a rhythm that keeps them open or even inviting. It’s a kind of balance that gives the band their shape, and their introspective, yet, connected to the outside world, character.
