Formed in Athens in 2019, Youth Valley have developed a sound that leans into atmosphere without losing its emotional clarity. Blending post punk with elements of dreampop and shoegaze, they shape songs around texture and feeling, with reverb-heavy guitars meeting vocals that feel distant but present.
cerberus, the first single from their upcoming sophomore album, as passive aggressive as it gets, continues along that path with a stronger sense of scale and a shift which comes naturally. Midway through, the guitars rise with more force, expanding into a denser, more immersive sound while still holding onto the track’s underlying softness. That movement between restraint and intensity gives the track its shape, balancing sentiment with momentum in a way that feels measured.
On the song, Youth Valley unfold: "This song is an honest confession of a broken person trying to find forgiveness in a journey of mistakes and cruelty caused by anger. - I dare only dream of it, but even dreaming feels horrifying. I picture a 3 headed guardian caring for me.I am part of it.I feel the warmth of a light that I cannot reach.
"We kept a part of this song’s creation session in the studio where we talk as we play in the final track, as a reminder that what we do in a moment is an irreplaceable experience that cannot be replaced by AI or flawless studio editing."
