Snowcuffs: Burst

Chicago dreampop outfit Snowcuffs return with Burst, a track that leans into the tension at the center of their sound, sounding hazy like what we would have expected from the band based on their earlier offerings, yet direct.

Founded on an alluring bassline and reverberating guitars, Burst moves with steady momentum. The rhythm section locks into a pulse that feels almost meditative, while the guitars shimmer overhead. Upfront vocals cut cleanly through the atmosphere, bringing an emotional clarity that keeps the song grounded even as it drifts into layered textures. Once again, there’s a post punk edge beneath the dreampop surface.

Burst confronts the moment when pressure accumulates to the point of fracture. Images of breath, thirst, and physical collapse mirror the internal strain, tracing a line from exhaustion to the quiet realization that something has to change.

The single offers a glimpse into Snowcuffs' forthcoming second EP, Sweet Gravity, due in early 2026. Across this new material, the band refines their songwriting while broadening their sonic reach, expanding the edges of dreampop.
