French musician Xavier Godart explores the edges of extremity through his solo project, Birtawil, a vehicle for his increasingly stark experimentation beyond his work with Mortuaire and former roles in The Great Old Ones and Spectrale. Based on a drone, ambient, and industrial sound design, Birtawil has established an experimental approach built upon repetition, tension, and a suffocating sense of atmosphere.
With the unveiling of Sento, Godart offers a gripping first glimpse into the forthcoming album Dua Min, scheduled for release on February 27th, 2026. The track signals a further descent into harsher and more electronically driven sound, while retaining the project’s defining intensity.
Sento layers saturated guitars with corroded textures and abrasive electronic pulses, as the project's meticulous pacing allows each repetition to sink deeper.
The accompanying visual component draws from degraded archival documentary projections, and mirrors Birtawil’s live performance aesthetic, presenting fragmented imagery that flickers in tandem with the music’s darkness and intensity.
