Gavran: Zora

Gavran return from uncertain ground with Zora, a nearly twelve-minute monolith that balances sheer weight with quiet transcendence. Based in Rotterdam, the post metal act has previously worked in long forms and slow burns. Once again, the scale feels intimate as much as it is overwhelming. The new track unfolds with relentless force, guided by a progressive sense of movement wrapped in post metal’s vast emotional language.

Lifting from doom, sludge, shoegaze, and post rock, Zora presses forward without relief, as Gavran let atmosphere and density carry the emotional weight rather than relying on obvious peaks.

Following illness and a period of uncertainty, Gavran return as a four-piece with renewed focus. Working with Marius Prins (Throwing Bricks) and Tim de Gieter (Amenra, Doodseskader), the band sharpens their vision into a wall of sound that expands on the groundwork laid by their previous full length Indistinct Beacon.

Zora feels like the chronicle of an inner struggle where clarity slowly dissolves into confusion. Old memories push forward even after losing their meaning, creating the sensation of wandering through an endless, heavy emotional landscape. The result sits somewhere between isolation and muted acceptance.
