Toronto coldwave duo TRAITRS follow their excellent recent single Burn In Heaven with a stark and haunting new track, I Was Ill, You Were Wrong. The song previews material from their newly announced fourth studio album, Possessor, set for release in March 2026 and poised to be the band’s most personal work to date.
I Was Ill, You Were Wrong confronts one of humanity’s oldest and deepest truths, our denial of death. The track examines how people chase purpose, distraction, and illusion to avoid facing our own impermanence, exposing the fragile defenses we build around fear. Ultimately, it’s a meditation on loneliness, and the single moment that can shatter the bubbles in which we live.
"I felt that song connected me to everything and everyone, it's the one thing we all share and have in common," explains vocalist and guitarist Shawn Tucker. "It's also a wake up call to live the life you want to live, we only have one chance at this so go dance in the rain."
Written during a period of profound upheaval for both Sean Patrick Nolan (synths, sequencing) and Shawn Tucker (guitar, vocals), Possessor channels experiences of depression, dislocation, and personal transformation. The result is an album that stares directly into mortality, alienation, and the fleeting nature of existence.
"There's a lot of anger, beauty and sadness on the album," TRAITRS reflects. "I want to feel that someone is holding you when you're cold, sad and alone in the dark. The soundtrack to a gloomy filled sorrowed love affair. It's unconditional, unflinching, and unapologetic."
