With their upcoming album a short history of decay inching somewhat closer, Nothing reveal its second glimpse in the form of Purple Strings, a track that feels bruised and mournful from end to end.
The song unfolds with a full string ensemble, featuring the presence of Mary Lattimore on harp, alongside Jason Adams on cello and Camille Getz on violin.
Where Purple Strings is understated, almost fragile in its tone, its accompanying visual, directed by Kevin Haus, pushes into something more feverish. Surreal imagery blurs into moments of stark, disarming clarity, creating a dream state that somehow feels both distant and painfully grounded. It’s a strange duality, coming across as unreal, yet hits as a lived experience.
The track and video form a unit that’s quietly devastating, wistful, wounded, and human.
