Breaking Waves arrives as the first single from Chalk Hands’ second album The Line That Shapes the Coast of Us, due March 27th, 2026 via Dog Knights Productions. It marks a notable shift in tone as the band’s most uplifting track to date, without abandoning the emotional weight that defines their work.
The tension between darkness and light has always been central to Chalk Hands’ sound, but in the new song that contrast is pushed further toward clarity and release. Breaking Waves leans into hope, allowing space for uplift while still carrying the intensity that underpins the band’s identity.
“At its core, it's about the parts of ourselves that rise up and obstruct us as we strive for something meaningful. Written as if those inner aspects take on a life of their own, the song explores a simple question: which battles do we choose to fight, and which are we ready to lay to rest?” the band unveils.
Emo rock collides with noise rock and hardcore, driven by an emotional delivery that once again stands out as the heart of Chalk Hands’ offering.
