World Coda: cold solace

World Coda are shaping their sound around a refined balance of heaviness and sentimentality, blending elements of doom, post metal, and shoegaze into something truly weighty.

The London-based metalgaze band draws inspiration from post modernist philosophy and psychoanalysis. They describe their sound as “a depressive yet erotic dreamscape,” at times very melodic and immersive, and at others drifting into more ethereal territory, with female vocals often taking center stage, frequently met by fierce black metal screams.

cold solace is a depressive and romantic doomgaze track from Rupture, the new split EP between World Coda and Asthenia from Beijing.

This particularly fantastic, hair-raising piece explores themes of love and despair, shifting from moody shoegaze to fierce black metal and beyond, creating an emotional path that echoes nostalgia and profound emotionalism.

The music video for cold solace, created by visual art team ABJECT-GAZE Productions, is heavily influenced by arthouse cinema, including modernist art films, the French New Wave, and experimental film traditions.

This is definitely one to watch.
