king hit: asterisk

Wellington’s rising shoegaze outfit king hit have introduced themselves with asterisk, a debut single that blends dreamlike textures with an unsettling edge. The track combines together the haze of shoegaze, with the melancholic weight of Midwest emo, resulting in a sound that feels quite intimate and engaging.

asterisk confronts sexual abuse within the band’s local scene, making it as bold in message as it is in sound. The verses draw into an uneasy stillness, before erupting into choruses that crush with anger and catharsis.

Formed in Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington, New Zealand), king hit are a four-piece with roots in the city’s underground scene. The band's core is composed of vocalist and guitarist Stefan Jenkins (The World Is Against You, Sol Fide), Felix Bird (Park Flyers) on bass and Sebastian Bell (Sol Fide) on drums, joined by newest addition, Caitlin Gabb, who brings a second guitar and spectral vocal harmonies to the mix'

With asterisk, king hit offer a vulnerable, yet, confrontational piece which right off the bat feels familiar and very promising.
