Human Hollow: Delgado

Human Hollow, a Portland-born dark synthpop project launched in 2024 by Austin McKee and Lucia Luna, produces a shadowy blend of darkwave and post punk moodiness embellished with dreamlike textures, and industrial bite.

Their new single Delgado arrives with force, setting the stage for their upcoming horror EP. The track is an unconventional psychosexual spiral, driven by warped analog synths, distorted vocal refrains, and a surge of unrelenting chaos.

The song’s spark came from a Christmas gift; a bitcrusher pedal, quickly patched into Austin’s Korg Volca Keys. Its distorted tones birthed the chorus’ lead line, while a single haunting phrase, “and I can’t deny a body,” captured on their vocal processor became the anchor which held the track together.

It took forever to figure out the intro,” the band admits, “but after a couple weeks of jamming and experimenting, that minimal bassy opening finally clicked.

This was probably the most fun and interesting track of ours to make,” Human Hollow add. “It’s weird, it’s loud, and it’s completely unhinged — just the way we like it.
