Grace’s Locket introduce themselves with Blush, a tender and radiant debut which captures the breathless rush of young love in its most unguarded form. The track arrives as a two-song release alongside its prelude, You Appear, a delicate entryway which slows time before the blossom of the main song, shaping the release into an even more intimate first offering.
Blush finds songwriter and vocalist Grace Juliet stepping into the forefront and laying bare her soul in a rather artful manner for the first time. The vocal delivery is fragile and confessional, almost as though expressed in a whisper meant for a single person. The instrumentation glows with warmth, steeped in nostalgic textures from analog synths, while the band’s interplay transforms both songs into a living and collective case.
Lyrically, Blush emanates more fragility. Grace unfolds: "I usually start lyrical melodies with nothing more than “la’s” and “ah’s,” letting the shape of sound lead me before words arrive. With Blush, those wordless hums transformed naturally into lyrics, carrying the same vulnerability as the feeling itself."
The result is a piece of dreampop which comes across as memoiristic and reflective yet timeless, bringing forward a sound that is organic, threaded with quiet echoes and shared devotion. Grace’s Locket appear seemingly out of the blue to hold and give voice to these fleeting emotions as if inside a keepsake.
Grace’s Locket come together as a four–piece whose chemistry is embedded directly into their sound. The band is composed of Grace Juliet (voice, rhythm guitar), Ian Harders (vocals, lead guitar), Hannah Cusick (bass, flute), and Aaron Bluth (drums, percussion).
