Oakland’s Night School has been a staple of the dreampop scene for years, and the band has yet to disappoint. Their sound blends a gritty, grungy guitar edge with hazy vocals and an all around shoegaze-soaked bliss, marrying lush melodic sensibilities with a nineties alternative aesthetic and a touch of tough attitude.
Bitter Pill merges acoustic rock stability with a more electric approach for a hazy effect; a standout track that shines like a hidden gem within a larger release, but also holds its own as a single.
The song appears on Night School’s new seven-track release, For Keeps, out via Graveface Records. As expected from the band, it’s a refined work and a great listen from start to finish.
