Asylum 213: Subi (スビ)

Asylum 213 was conceived by singer and guitarist Dylan Lawson in the summer of 2010. After almost ten years of creating and recording numerous collections of innovative soundscapes, the solo project evolved into a fully fledged band. Asylum 213 present an experimental blend of post hardcore and heavy noise rock sound, infused with metallic elements.

Subi (スビ) is the first single off the band's upcoming album Malpracticioner. The band describes: "This song is all about enduring through the ups and downs of balancing daily life, work, relationships, and the pursuit of all you find passion in while being faced with various obstacles and hardships that may make you feel unworthy or incapable of doing any or all of the above or more. Written after a tragic malfunction of a 2009 Subaru Forester’s engine during the last day of a tour we did in 2022, this song is about doing your best to remember no matter what happens, passion is always worth it; Doing what you love with the people you love is always worth it."

Subi (スビ) delivers a powerful impact right from the start, unleashing a relentless burst of fiery energy. The intensity evolves into more intricate and melodic passages of modern prog and math rock properties, infusing the music with greater emotional depth and creating a thoroughly engaging journey.
