Dallas band SECRECIES return with the announcement of their new album, Perfect Bite, exploring more of their shoegaze, dreampop and contemporary electronic influences as expressed by the first single, Cathedrals.
SECRECIES features band leader and songwriter, Shawn Magill on vocals, bass guitar, and synthesizer, together with Alex Bhore on guitar and synthesizer (composer, producer for HALO video game, and prior member of This Will Destroy You), Leah Lane on guitar (of Rosegarden Funeral Party), Dean Adams on percussion (of LoreleiK), and Ivan Beltran on drums (of Only Ever). The new album was produced and engineered by Alex Bhore at Elmwood Recording in Oak Cliff and mastered by Dave Cooley of Elysian Masters in Pasadena, CA.
Cathedrals is a dreamlike shoegaze/dreampop number based on well executed reverb and distortion, as well as ambient and experimental electronic textures which all together produce an immersive atmosphere. The song was written during the early days after the pandemic, when Shawn Magill was traveling to New York City, and its modern urban feel is evident throughout. The song resonates with themes of drive and contemplation, creating a vivid narrative of a dreamer seeking comfort within turmoil.
Perfect Bite comes out on May 17th, 2024 on Idol Records.
