Drought, a new band formed in 2022 as a means of escape from a world filled with growing uncertainty, brings together experienced musicians, including artists who hadn't played in ten years. Based in Oakland, the band offers a nostalgic and hard hitting approach to contemporary post hardcore.
One of the songs on their new EP, aptly titled EP, is Oh, Javelin!, a strong five-minute track which encapsulates the essence of archetypal bands from the genre's past while still maintaining a fresh and immediate sound. The track unfolds gradually, featuring introspective and poetic lyrics which examine existential themes, reflecting on agnosticism and the unknown. Oh, Javelin! easily delivers a powerful post hardcore sound and an overarching passion which leaves a lasting impact.
