DAMEFRISØR: D.O.D.

Combining shoegaze and soaring electronica with a fascinating mix of post punk and industrial post rock, Bristol-based hopefuls, DAMEFRISØR, have released new single D.O.D., the second track off their upcoming debut EP, Island of Light, expected out on February 24th, 2023 via Permanent Creeps Records.

Alex Greaves (Working Men's Club, bdrmm, Lice) produced the new EP, which was recorded at Leeds' The Nave Studios. It comes ahead of impending shows with Lynks and VLURE, as well as a headline tour in March 2023 which will take the band to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Manchester, Portsmouth, Bristol, and London.

DAMEFRISØR (pronounced dame-eh-frizz-yuor) are an up and coming force, embracing the sentimental strength of club and dance together with the rich industrial-bent post rock for which they've been known. The band's new single, D.O.D., is the most simple and direct illustration of their competence to date, with lyrics which focus on feelings of isolation.

Vocalist Kazhi Jahfar elaborates on the song's lyrical ideas: “D.O.D. is about feeling invisible. The song talks about the feeling of going through something but feeling as though no one is aware of your existence. Loneliness in cities is a recurring theme across the record, musically I feel like the song explores the intensity of trying to be seen with all efforts amounting to nothing. Lyrically it's a sort of internal monologue reacting to the stressful atmosphere created by that feeling.
