Composer Jonas Colstrup was a true peer and collaborator of the late and great Jóhann Jóhannsson, as they composed the scores together for Japanese films Blind Massage (2014) and The Shadow Play (2018).
Colstrup's music, like Jóhannsson's, has great emotional depth and an unique contemplative flair, being distinct in the modern neo-classical world. While he has scored films on his own since working with Johann, he has also continued to work on his own music, eventually resulting in the upcoming album At The Crest, which will be released on November 18th, 2022 by 7K! Records.
Rain from a Blue Sky, the first single from the impending album, was an accurate indicator of Colstrup's range, and the glacial album closer, Two Suns, reveals more of the artist's scope as a composer, expanding to an appealing high point which engages the listener effortlessly.
