LA's More Ephemerol showcase a little more of their poppier side on their new single, Fertile Energy, a synthpop obscurity produced by Matia Simovich (Body of Light, Riki, SRSQ).
With their new offering, the duo of Sea Fjerstad and Tamara Sky, underline their obvious influence from the eighties synthpop vanguard and classics such as OMD and Human League, while they also assert that their sound stands comfortably next to that of underground contemporaries like Cold Cave and Drab Majesty.
Fertile Energy is a minimal, energetic hitter with aware, nearly cryptic lyrics and delightful synth-heavy instrumentals, in which the band's lighter side shines through, but its somber basis is also palpable.
