Matador: Dissociator

There's a new, ascending force in the underground heavy rock realm. Coming from Vancouver, British Columbia, Matador have just released their new four-song EP, The Surge, which radiates extreme heaviness and combines an assemblage of different styles in a very efficient manner.

Matador's solid hard rock groundwork evolves from doom metal, stoner rock and sludge, yet, in the band's long compositional structures there are palpable imprints of noise rock and grunge sounds, most notably during the more dynamic parts. Additionally, elements of ambience embellish Matador's sound in a complementary way when the band attempts to reach more atmospheric heights. It all results to a bold and coherent post metal hybrid which excels on many levels.

EP highlight and opening number, Dissociator, outlines those particulars which make Matador's craft immensely heavy and all around attention-grabbing.

Dissociator and Business Trip come with live videos recorded and mixed at Rain City Recorders in which the band's adeptness is in full display.
