Panic Priest is the darkwave project of Chicago-based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Jack Armondo, also of the dark pop duo My Gold Mask. Angelsteal is the first single off Panic Priest's forthcoming album, PSYCHOGORIA, expected out in February 2022 through Negative Gain.
Based on the artist's prominent crooning vocal and a synth-heavy instrumental direction, Angelsteal is a memorable and specially upbeat track, which despite its notable wistfulness, leans on darkwave's approachable side.
The artist's statement says: "Angelsteal is a healing song and about taking control of one’s own destiny. The so-called 'angels' in our lives that might be an oppressive force, whether in an intentional way or not. It’s about taking back the time they can inadvertently steal and using it to realize one’s future."
