No Romance: Before

After the release of the self-titled track last month, fresh act, No Romance, unveil their new four-song EP, Unfold in its entirety, a very nice set of songs which goes back and forth between radiant synthpop and sharp-cutting shoegaze.

Opening track, Before, leans toward a janglier indie rock sound, going through pathways of energized post punk, eventually leading to a gazey outburst in which the group's instrumental dexterity shines.

An all around dense bundle, Unfold begins and advances as an indie rocker for its first half, and ventures into dashing synthpop territories in a gradual and fixed manner, wearing a solid production by Nick Roughan on the way.

An international enterprise, the Berlin-based No Romance are composed of UK-born Lucy Holliday and New Zealanders Isaac Hickey and Joel Ivan Thomas.
