Rik Schaffer: Extremities

Since the late nineties, Rik Schaffer has earned a lot of acclaim as a first rate video game composer. His original score to 2004's RPG, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, received praise and achieved a cult status over the years, with fans asking for unreleased material and outtakes.

Extremities is such a track, a previously unissued piece which will be part of the incoming Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines - More Music from the Vault, expected out on June 25th, 2021, via Milan Records/Sony.

The melancholic properties is Schaffer's score which integrates elements from different genres like industrial, trip hop, ambient and, unsurprisingly, film music, contributes to the storyline's bleak world set in the LA underworld. Schaffer also acted as recording engineer, dialogue editor, and foley artist on the game which eventually turned out to be a crucial point in his career.

Rik Schaffer's body of work also includes MMORPG Dark Age of Camelot (2001), Bruce Lee: Quest of the Dragon (2002), Fantastic Four (2005), X-Men: The Official Game (2006), Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer (2007), Spider-Man 3 (2007), Call of Duty: World at War (2008) and The Elder Scrolls Online (2014) among others.
