Next Wave Acid Punx is an ambitious project brought to realization by producer and DJ Luca Venezia aka Curses, an expansive three-volume compilation which brings together punk, early electronica and modern EBM, spanning four decades of underground music.
The Berlin-based New Yorker formulated the upcoming release in an obviously thorough and savvy manner, with each volume representing a different aspect of the artist's musical experiences, with the punk and new wave of the past constituting the first Chapter, contemporary sounds being represented in Chapter 2, and exclusively created material making up the final part.
"What links these tracks together, is an attitude," Luca Venezia comments. "It’s one I’ve been drawn to since I was a teenager, playing in punk bands, skateboarding in NYC, hanging out at CBGBs, and following Sonic Youth around, to eventually raving every weekend at underground drum & bass and electro nights. The compilation showcases the vital influences of Curses’ sound, from New Wave to Post Punk, and 80s EBM to New Beat."
Venezia himself as Curses offers Discipline, a solid new track through which he makes evident that his eclectically curated influences are put to great use, they're adjusted to his own creative dynamics, and translated into something fresh.
Next Wave Acid Punx will be released on June 4th, 2021 by Eskimo Recordings.
