New Canyons: No Shame

With an impressive, sharp sound which is established resolutely on shoegaze but leans heavily on dark synthpop, Chicagoan duo, New Canyons, sign to Feeltrip Records, and announce their third full length, Heavy Water, incoming April 30th, 2021.

New single and video, No Shame, finds New Canyons exploring and ultimately maximizing the strength of their production quality, while carrying an eighties dark pop feel which stands miles above and far from the the genre's worn out tropes. Eight years after their previous album, Everyone is Dark, the duo still wears its gloominess mightily on its sleeves, and seems ready to reveal another exciting part of its artistry.

"No Shame is the lament of being dumped and the self doubt that washes over you," the band's statement specifies. "The push and pull of emotions and feelings of wanting to self-destruct. The song is ultimately a pep talk as you tell yourself there's no reason for shame and you're taking back control of your life."

The video which accompanies No Shame comes full of pure energy and with a nightly skate-loving kind of aestheticism, starring Marley Watts, and written, directed, and edited by Todd Diederich.
