Echolot: Frozen Dead Star

Basel, Switzerland-based metal trio, Echolot, are preparing for the release of their third album, Destrudo, which will be out on October 2nd, 2020 through Sixteentimes Music and Czar Of Crickets Productions. It follows 2016's I, and its successor, Volva, from 2017, and through the first single unveiled, Echolot have already shown a proclivity toward a darker tone which feels very much suitable to the band's heavy sound.

A little shorter than ten-minutes long, Frozen Dead Star, is the first example off the coming album. Relatively briefer than the average duration of the band's compositions, the new piece sees Echolot blueprinting the styles on which they thrive, moving forward with their psychedelic kind of doom and sludge metal, and resonating with the progressive rock impetus of past greats.

Fozen Dead Star gives off large amounts of melancholy and intensity, and it's an overly weighty piece whose bold instrumentals come together perfectly with the edgy vocals, resulting to an overall lasting impression.

Fozen Dead Star comes with a correspondingly eerie video of almost abstract scenes which make for a very interesting visual representation of the song.

Echolot are Lukas Fürer (guitar), Renato Matteucci (bass) and Jonathan Schmidli (drums).
