Bedroom pop stalwart, Thomas Howard from Atlanta, Georgia, writes and records under the moniker Orchid Mantis, and has already put out a significant amount of worth checking out releases since his first endeavors from 2014. The upcoming four-track EP, Light As Leaving, follows last year's Yellow House, and releases September 17th, 2019 through Z Tapes Records.
Sharp and glimmering, the newest track unveiled off the coming EP is No One Else Around, a direct piece which represents Howard's fresh take on power pop and dreampop.
"After three consecutive albums working at a certain sound I wanted to give myself space to experiment without expectations and introduce fresh ideas," the artist comments on the new EP. "On this one, I pushed myself to try some things I couldn't seem to get right in the past, while drawing from a lot of what i'd learned recording the last album. The title is from some lyrics I ended up scrapping, but the phrase stuck with me enough to attach itself to these songs."
