Syrup, Go On: Dreams

Dreampop up and comers, Syrup, Go On, from Gold Coast, Australia will be releasing their wonderful debut full length, Last Light, on June 20th, 2019 through Valley Heat Records.

Drawing from the standard vanguard of dreampop and shoegaze, while often taking their sound to more dashing psychedelic pop expanses, the band appear very much dedicated and driven on their follow up to last year's Joyful Hesitation EP. Fronted by Liz Dick and Tom Briese, Syrup, Go On make excellent use of both male and female vocals, and showcase how savvy they can be through their rich instrumentation and layered production, courtesy of Briese himself, along with co-producer and engineer Jordan Bain (Leavings, Tia Gostelow’s live band). Last Light finds the fresh group emerging lush and audacious on every single of its ten tracks, while its lyrical content is as bittersweet and nostalgic as the band's sound, tackling themes of isolation, despair and the uncertainty which unavoidably comes in relationships.

One of the album's highlights, Dreams, is a three-minute piece of exemplar shoegaze sharpness and poignancy that carries a great deal of the band's strengths.

Syrup, Go On transitioned from being a quartet to a trio, and now they expand to a sextet for their live set up, as they gear up for a five-date Australian East Coast tour to support their new album.
