Wasuremono: Are You OK?

Wasuremono have gained attention last year through supporting The Flaming Lips and Phosphorescent on tour. The band's next record, Are You OK?, will come out on June 14th, 2019 via The Wilderness Records.

William Southward, the brainchild behind Wasuremono states about the album's self-titled track: "Are You OK? seemed to turn into a pep talk to myself, with themes and sounds of the seaside and clearing the mind asking yourself or someone else ‘Are you ok?’. It’s got a really 80’s vibe to this song with the help from the Linn Drum Computer pounding through the song backed up with synth sounds played on an old Yamaha Dx7."

A brightly colorful psychedelic pop delight, Are You OK? opposes its radiance with a lot of sweet wistfulness and the band's hazy and elegant delivery. As the result borders on dreampop, surf rock and shoegaze, Wasuremono offer a very inviting glimpse of what their coming album sounds like and its esoteric theme.

"Unconsciously a lot of the songs I have written over the last year seem to explore mental health at some level, so ‘Are You OK? seemed a fitting title," William Southward describes. "I liked the idea of sugar coating the ‘Are You OK?’ slogan, which is something we can all be guilty of doing when portraying our lives, whether that’s online or to each other in person. Underneath all this though, is the more serious question that I think we should be asking each other and ourselves; Are You OK? Let’s talk…"

Alongside Southward, friends Madelaine Ryan, Isaac Phillips, and Phoebe Phillips comprise the band that brings Wasuremono's vision to full fruition.
