Rod McKuen RIP


Singer, songwriter, poet, lyricist and composer, Rod McKuen, died aged 81 on January 29th 2015.

McKuen was twice nominated for an Oscar for his film music, won a Golden Globe and was nominated for a Pulitzer prize in music.

He was responsible for introducing the work of Jacques Brel to the US with his covers of Brel’s songs in English and Seasons In The Sun, sung by Terry Jacks became his most notable pop hit, based on Brel’s Le Moribond.



His vast discography includes spoken word poetry albums, film scores, collaborations and his songs have been performed by acts such as Frank Sinatra, Anita Kerr, Perry Como, Johnny Cash, Dusty Springfield and hundreds more.

His bibliography is also huge, poems of have been translated into eleven languages and his books have sold millions of copies, establishing him as one of the most popular poets of the 60s and 70s.
