Toxic Cloud is the second single from Soliloque, the new EP by one-man black/thrash metal project Maudiir. Like the rest of the rather dark, heavy, and overall exciting EP, the song combines melody, speed, and aggression, while is epic conclusion is a distinct standout.
The lyrics about consumer culture, faith, science, technological dependency, and the degradation of the environment add to the music's gloomy tone. Maudiir's new five-track release seems to have been constructed on a sturdy thrash metal groundwork while engaging with progressive and more melodic patterns.
