Vakara are a heavy rock band from Denver, Colorado, emerging with a fairly classic and reliable approach to stoner rock and doom rock, bringing to mind genre greats such as The Sword, Clutch and Orange Goblin.
The band's sound is a natural merging of traditional styles of hard rock with a more contemporary approach, while their songwriting incorporates lyrical concepts and topics which frequently deal with sorcery and mythology-related ideas. The additional fuzz is always present to complement the groove and the band's overall explosive dynamism.
These themes permeate the quartet's four-song EP, Mythos, which is pretty heavy and soulful throughout. The opening track, Valeria, is a six-minute piece which establishes the heaviness and melodic hooks that the band easily brings.
