Oceans: Breathless

Breathless is the third single from Oceans' debut album Dreamers In Dark Cities, which deals with themes of solitude, individualism, and the disengage that consequences from having to spend a long period of time apart from one's loved ones.

Recorded and produced with renowned Australian producer Lindsay Gravina (Rowland S. Howard, Magic Dirt), the album was written during the 2020 lockdown period, and will be out through Portland label Shelflife Records.

Commenting on the new track, Oceans write: "It was inspired by the film ‘Breathless’ (1960), which explores how people can try to hold onto a relationship even if it hurts them. It explores the darker themes of love and how we still hold significance to others no matter how far away they may be or the pain they may cause."

The song is appropriately analogous to the melancholy we've come to expect from Oceans, and is a deep track that definitely constitutes an excellent single release ahead of the anticipated album. It oscillates between melodic dreampop and fuzzier guitar driven richness.
